Project Background
What Is The Florida Clinical Consultation for Treatment Improvement Process (FCCTIP)? The consultation process is an experience whereby peers provide a “clinical consultation” to other peers. The goal, similar to the medical model of a consultation, is to review the manner in which substance abuse treatment services at a particular agency are rendered with a “fresh eye.”
A team of consultants (2 individuals) will visit your agency for approximately 2 ½ days. The consultation visit usually begins with an introductory meeting in which the consultation team, the clinical director, and designated agency staff review the purpose and goals of the visit.
The visit will then proceed a with a review of client records as well as interviews with the agency staff and clients. The consultation concludes with an interactive meeting of open dialogue in which the findings of the visit are discussed along with recommendations for treatment improvement. At this time available resources are also discussed and copies of a Resource Manual (a publication of FCCTIP) and the Red Book are provided.
